Student Bar Association

Established in 1934, the Student Bar Association was one of the first student associations in any American law school. Upon enrollment at the University of North Dakota School of Law, each student becomes a member of the organization. Throughout the year, the Association plans social activities, symposia, and intramural sports events.

Law students elect seven members of the student body to run the Student Bar Association. Those members include a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and one student representative from each of the three classes.

In 1967, the American Bar Association established a Law Student Division. Each law school elects a Law Student Division representative who attends national and regional meetings and channels ABA information and materials to students. At the University of North Dakota, this elected person is also a voting officer in the Association. All students are eligible to be in the Law Student Division of the ABA.
