Elaine Ayers

Ms. Ayers received her B.A. in journalism from Western Kentucky University in 1984. She received her law degree (with distinction) in 1989 from the University of North Dakota, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as research editor for the North Dakota Law Review. Upon graduation from law school, she was a law clerk to former Justice Beryl Levine of the North Dakota Supreme Court. She served as an Assistant Attorney General for North Dakota from 1990 - 1993, operating mostly as appellate counsel for the Department of Transportation. Ms Ayers joined the staff of the UND School of Law in 1993 as Assistant Director of Central Legal Research; in 1994, she was named Director. She is a consultant to the North Dakota Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee and co-editor of Sustained! A Practitioner's Guide to North Dakota Evidence (1998). Ms Ayers is a member of the North Dakota Bar.
