Setting up Student Printers for Macintosh
- Download Required Files to your Desktop:
- Remove all previous printers you currently have set up for the Law School Library.
- Open System Preferences found in the Apple drop down menu at the top left of your screen.
- Open "Printers and Fax"
- Select any printer you currently have set up for the Law School Library (CircDeskBW, CircDeskColor, etc)
- Click the minus (-) sign under the list of printers
- Install the Black and White Circulation Desk Printer
- Open System Preferences found in the Apple drop down menu at the top left of your screen.
- Open "Printers and Fax"
- Click the add (+) button below the list of printers
- For Mac 10.4:
- Hold down the <Option> key and click "More Printers" at the bottom of the window.
- Change the top drop down menu to "Advanced"
- Change the "Device:" drop down menu to Pharos Print Server.
- For the Black and White Printer:
- In the "Device Name:" field, enter law164_Mac_BW_Q.
- In the "Device URI:" field, enter popup://134.129.201.119/law164_Mac_BW_Q
- Change "Print Using:" to HP
- Scroll down and select HP LaserJet 5100 Series
- For the Color Printer:
- In the "Device Name:" field, enter law164_Mac_Color_Q.
- In the "Device URI:" field, enter popup://134.129.201.119/law164_Mac_Color_Q
- Change "Print Using:" to HP
- Scroll down and select HP Color LaserJet 4650 Series
- Click "Add"
- From the Printer Setup Utility, select (click) the printer you just installed.
- Click the "Show Info" button at the top of the window.
- Change the drop down menu to "Installable Options"
- Put a Checkmark in "Tray 3" and "Duplex Unit"
- Click "Continue"
- For Mac 10.5:
- Hold down the "Control" key on the keyboard and click anywhere on the toolbar. From the popup menu that appears, select "Customize Toolbar".
- Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar and close the customization dialog.
- Click on the "Advanced" button in the toolbar.
- Change the "Type:" field to Pharos Print Server.
- For the Black and White Printer:
- Change the "URL:" field to popup://134.129.201.119/law164_Mac_BW_Q
- Change the "Name:" field to law164_Mac_BW_Q.
- Change "Print Using:" to HP
- Scroll down and select HP LaserJet 5100 Series
- For the Color Printer:
- In the "Device Name:" field, enter law164_Mac_Color_Q.
- In the "Device URI:" field, enter popup://134.129.201.119/law164_Mac_Color_Q
- Change "Print Using:" to HP
- Scroll down and select HP Color LaserJet 4650 Series
- Click "Add"
- Put a Checkmark in "Tray 3" and "Duplex Unit"
- Click "Continue"
