Handling Offers

They want you!! Do you want to commit to them? That can be a tough question. Is this your dream position, one of several offers, or the only option available to you? You need to consider potential job satisfaction, type of work, the opportunity for advancement and, of course, salary when making the decision.

It is absolutely necessary to communicate with the employer when the offer is made. Find out how long the offer is valid and by what date you must let them know. Let the employer know if you have other offers to consider. It is a professional courtesy and responsibility to be honest and forthright with any employer regarding acceptance or rejection of an offer. Acceptance of an offer should be considered binding. Therefore, approach the decision making process with the seriousness it deserves. Refer to the National Association For Law Placement's Principles For Candidates in the Appendix of Career Services Handbook for the professionally accepted methods to deal with offers of employment.
