The Call-Back InterviewMany are interviewed, few are called back. Your initial interview went very well. You made a favorable impression on the firm or organization and they want to look at you more closely. You may be invited to visit their office. During this time, you will meet other members of the firm or organization. From the receptionist to the head of the office to other staff members, you must again make a favorable impression. You may be interviewed separately by several people. For each interviewer, this may be the first time they have met you. Keep your initial interview skills in mind for each such situation. This is also your chance to check out the office setting. You will want to check out the physical surroundings, the tone of the office, the technology used, the library, work schedule, office dress, etc. Ask questions of your host about office policies and expectations. Remember, you want to find a professionally and personally satisfying position, not just a job. A "thank you" letter should be sent to the appropriate people after both the initial and call-back interviews. They have taken their valuable time to visit with you and possibly provide a professional opportunity. You can solidify the positive impression the firm or organization has of you and remind them of your interest in the position. |
