Post Graduate Employment: United States Air Force JAG Corp is currently recruiting law students and practicing attorneys for post-graduate employment. The Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps hires between 100-120 law students and practicing attorneys each year. The Direct Appointment Program gives qualified applicants the opportunity to obtain both a commission as a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force and designation as a judge advocate. Judge advocate assignments provide exciting challenges and opportunities in many different areas of law at over 200 different offices worldwide. Judge advocates engage in a diversified practice of law to include criminal law, civil law, legal assistance, torts and claims, government contract law, labor law, environmental law, international law, and operational law. Minimum requirements are that applicants be less than 35 years of age, a U.S. citizen, graduated from an ABA accredited law school, and be admitted to the highest court of any state or a federal bar. Law students may apply after the completion of their second year of law school. Selection is contingent upon graduation and bar admission. The deadlines for applications are 1 February, 1 April, 1 June, 1 August, 1 October, and 1 December of each year. One-Year Bristow Fellowship, US Department of Justice: Washington, DC. The US Department of Justice has a one-year Bristow Fellowship. Fellowship applicants must be law school graduates with exceptional academic records. Applicants typically have completed a judicial clerkship, most frequently with a federal appellate court judge. Bristow Fellows work closely with the other lawyers in the Office of the Solicitor General.
